The Western Cape State of the Province Address has been temporarily  suspended following disruptions by members of the African National Congress, as Premier Helen Zille was about to deliver her speech.

ANC Members of the Provincial Legislature is accusing the Premier of defaulting on an agreement over the allocation of road construction contracts.

Bush Radio’s Mbasa Gqokoma says Premier held a media briefing at the sitting was suspended and highlighted some key factors in her speech including the energy crisis, job creation, development of proper schools and tackling alcohol abuse.

Gqokoma added that proceeding reconvened following a two hour delay but was shortly adjourned following the refusal of Pierre Uys to leave the chamber after being asked several times by Speaker.
