Western Cape MEC of Social
Development Albert Fritz has called for all parties involved in the case of
17-year-old Zephany Nurse to be responsible and not make unnecessary comments.
Nurse was snatched from her
mother’s arms at Groote Schuur Hospital in 1997 and was only reunited with her
mother last week Thursday.
Her parents and the Hawks
managed to track her down after some of her school friends noticed a
resemblance between the teen and her younger sister, who attends the same
school as her.
Zephany is currently in the
care of social workers.
MEC Fritz said unfortunately
all the reports and people making comments about her case is not a contribution
to getting her mind in the right state of mind.
Fritz said I have assigned
three very senior social workers to the case and a legal representative to
really act on her interest up to the point when she becomes 18 years of age
which is in a months’ time.
“At this point I will protect
her and really make sure that her best interest is our main priority” Fritz
added.
