Alleged baby refrigerator suspects released on bail

The woman who kept the bodies of babies in a refrigerator in New Brighton, Mthatha appeared in the Mthatha Magistrate Court where she was granted bail.

Police discovered the bodies of the infants following a tip-off and had to break into the house as the woman identified as Melice Jacobs was away at the time.

One of the babies was found with a shoelace wrapped around his neck.

Colonel Sibongile Soci said she was released on R5000 the conditions of bail are as follows, she has to find an alternative place to stay in Mthatha, she may not leave the Mthatha area and she must not interfere with the witnesses.

“The case was reprimanded for the 9th of April 2015” Soci added.
