The Commission for Gender Equality
said Human Rights Day is about looking back at the gains and challenges that
have been achieved in the past twenty years of human rights and gender
equality.
As today is Human Rights Day the
commission says this year marks a significant mark in terms of human rights and
gender equality in the country.
The commission’s Javu Baloyi said it
is the because of the moving away from millennium development goals to sustainable
development goals and also SADC gender on protocol, and also what they are
doing as the Commission for Gender Equality in advancing the work of gender human rights.
Baloyi added that "We believe as the commission because
this year has been declared a ticket for African women it is a significant
milestone and it means that issues of gender and human rights will be taken into
recognition."
