The Congress of the People has called on police Minister Nathi Nhleko to immediately remove Major General Nhlemeza as acting head of the Police’s Directorate for Priority Crime Investigations.

This follows allegations that general Nhlemeza has been unfit for the position and further degraded the standard of the PCI since he took over.

In a judgement in the Pretoria High Court, Judge Elias Matojane found that Nhlemeza has been biased and dishonest and further lacked integrity.

Cope’s spokesperson Dennis Bloem says “the conduct of General Nhlemeza shows that he is biased and dishonest.

Bloem added that the judge further said that Nhlemeza is dishonest and lack integrity. Secondly the Minister can’t keep such a dishonest person without integrity in this special unit.

He concluded by saying Cope is shocked that Nhlemeza is still not being fired.

"We believe by firing the acting head Hawks boss Nhlemeza, the Minister will restore the faith and trust in the Hawks." Bloem said.
