Deputy President Cyril
Ramaphosa today met with Business Leadership South Africa to discuss the issues
facing Eskom.
Ramaphosa said he welcomed
interest shown by businesses to fund a solution to the current energy crisis in
the country.
Eskom has been under immense
pressure following the suspension of four executives including its CEO and the
financial trouble it is faced with.
In Parliament this week Deputy
President Ramaphosa announced a panel that would advise him on issues
concerning Eskom and a war room has also been set-up for this.
Ramaphosa said the war room is
managed on an ongoing basis by number of our officials but Dr Shaun Philips has
been in charge of monitoring and evaluation and is the one who manages the war
room on a daily basis.
“So the effort to address the
challenges that Eskom faces is comprehensive and it is going deeper and deeper
we are grappling all the issues that surrounds the current problems” Ramaphosa
added.
