The Democratic Alliance has
called for Public Protector Thuli Madonsela to investigate the awarding of a
contract for building 66-000 toilets to a company linked to a family of
President Jacob Zuma, Minister Lindiwe Zulu and ANC Secretary Gwede Mantsahe in
the Eastern Cape.
DA Parliamentary Leader Mmusi
Maimane said the toilet contract is yet another example of how those in power
are using their political power to enrich themselves while the basic needs of
citizens go unmet.
Maimane says we believe that
in fact here is a case for maladministration and we believe the Public
Protector must investigate.
“We can’t be able to hold the
people of the Eastern Cape ransom while politicians are getting wealthy as tenders
are being given to their family members” Maimane added.
