Cape Town firefighters are still trying to extinguish a fire, which is now on the Chapman’s Peak side and is high up on the slope of the mountain and burning in the direction of Hout Bay.

The fire which started on Sunday in Muizenberg has left on firefighter sustaining burn wounds and fifty-two people treated for smoke inhalation.

City of Cape Town’s Fire and Rescue Spokesperson Theo Layne said on the Tokai Forest Plantation side the fire is burning very slowly due to no wind.

“We are using two helicopters on the Tokai side as well as two on the Chapman’s side. They will be bombing the areas that the fire vehicles and the firefighters cannot get through.” Layne said.
