Western Cape MEC of Community Safety Dan Plato says violence in our society should not be tolerated.

This as over the weekend Khayelitsha residents protested over service delivery and even set fire to a community hall.

The N2 highway was blocked for several hours on Sunday as residents said the City of Cape Town promised them houses and has not delivered.

Ministerial Spokesperson Ewald Botha says Minister Plato feels that there will be no winners when it comes to restructuring of public property and the illegal activity and violence that erupted in Khayelitsha over the weekend.

A call to members of the community and leaders of the community to remain calm when dealing with grievances of service delivery Botha added.
