The Western Cape Education Department has condemned the recent protest action which has taken place at Imvumelwano Primary School in Kraaifontein in the last two days.

Last month the principal of the school was dismissed after he was charged with five charges of misconduct relating to sexual assault and harassment.

Subsequently a disciplinary hearing found him guilty.

Ministerial Spokesperson Jessica Shelver said this means that the small group of disgruntled community members are preventing 1293 learners from receiving an education. Education is the very basic right that these children need to flourish in order to reach their full potential in life.

“It is in the interest of all parties now that teaching and learning continues at this school” Shelver added.
