DA calls for an inquiry on Proteas match selection allegations

The Democratic Alliance has written to the chairperson of the portfolio committee for Sports and Recreation requesting that the committee chair institute a Parliamentary inquiry into allegations of political interference in the Proteas team selection for their Cricket World Cup semi-final against New Zealand.

DA shadow Minister of Sports and Recreation Solly Malatsi says “I have this morning written to the chairperson of parliamentary committee on Sports and Recreation Beauty Dlulane.

"I have then requesting that she institutes a parliamentary inquiry into allegations of political interference in the Proteas match selection in their match in the Cricket World Cup," Malatsi added.

 He concluded by saying that a parliamentary inquiry is the best intervention to clear the dark cloud hanging over this matter which has serious implications for the true independence of national sports team,
