The Democratic Alliance has filed an application under the Promotion of Access to Information Act to have access to the Independent Police Investigative Directorate report into the conduct of the National Police Commisioner Riah Phiyega.

This comes after reports on Friday that Western Cape National Prosecuting Authority will be pursing the prosecution of the Province’s Commissioner Arno Lamoer.

DA MP of Police Dianne Kohler Barnard says as quit as we are we know that we probed another person Riah Phiyega who is implicated on destructing the cause of justice.

While we welcome the NPA’s decision to prosecute Lamoer, it’s critically important that all those responsible for notorious dealings will be subjected to court proceedings, Barnard added.
