The Democratic Alliance says the resignation of suspended Hawks boss Anwa Dramat will not absolve the Minister of Police Nkosinathi Nhleko on gross misconduct.

Dramat was suspended last year December for his alleged role in the illegal rendition of Zimbabweans in 2010.

The DA says it is disappointed at the decision by Dramat to resign and the party believes he was forced to resign for political reasons.

DA MP of Police Dianne Kohler Barnard said the fact that any future head of the hawks may equally now be drummed out should he or she call for the Nkandla file of file on any ANC politician to be investigated and neither should the police Minister be absolved in his unlawful conduct and be charged with contempt of court for the suspension of Dramat.

Barnard added that It had been in November declared unconstitutional by the constitutional court, in December he promptly did it at somebodies nose at the court as whole.
