An accident this afternoon on the R617 in Howick, KwaZulu Natal left two children dead and 13 others injured.

This is after the vehicle transporting them from school lost control and rolled down an embankment.

ER24 Spokesperson Chitra Bodasing said When ER24 paramedics and other services arrived on scene they found children, several of them who were ejected from the vehicle and believed to be between the ages of four and seven, lying all over the scene.

Bpdasing added that they assessed the children. Unfortunately there was nothing paramedics could do for two of the children. They were declared dead.

"Three children sustained critical injuries. Others sustained injuries ranging from minor to serious. The driver of the vehicle sustained minor injuries. They were all treated and transported to various hospitals." Bodasing said.

The exact details to the cause of the accident will remain the subject of a police investigation.
