A 21-year-old sentenced to life imprisonment for rape

A 21-year-old man has been sentenced to life imprisonment while his 17-year-old accomplice sentenced to twenty-years for rape.

The two raped a ten-year-old and a sixteen-year-old in Beaufort West when the girls together with three friends went looking for firewood.

Captain Malcolm Pojie said they can confirm that three of their friends escaped the ordeal and reported it to the police, where after a man was contacted which led to the arrest of Charl September as well as his accomplice.

Pojie added that they both appeared last week in court for the rape counts, with the 17-year-old pleading guilty on four counts of rape and was sentenced to 20 years imprisonment, while September was sentenced to life imprisonment for the rape of the 10 year old victim.
