Western Cape MEC of Health Nomafrench Mbombo has expressed concern over the attack of emergency medical personnel’s.

This as another EMS medical vehicle was robbed in Tafelsig, Mitchell’s Plain this week.

MEC Mbombo in a statement said this is unfathomable that criminals are targeting emergency workers who risk their lives on a daily basis to serve the people of this province.

Ministerial Spokesperson Siviwe Gwarube said well we have had conversations with the Department of Safety about tightening security for emergency personnel; this responsibility still lies with the community.

Gwarube said in the meantime we going to be trying to find out whether or not there is anything we can do to strengthen security around there, but the Western Cape does really work diligently to try and secure our public facilities.

“We urge communities to take greater responsibility in helping us in this regard.” Gwarude added.
