The Congress of the People is saddened by the death of the two firemen who were trapped inside a burning building this morning in Johannesburg.

COPE said that these are the bravest of brave people going where no one dares to go.

Their work is full of danger COPE added in a statement.

COPE’s spokesperson Dennis Bloem said it is not a nice feeling to lose such dedicated and brave people.

Bloem said last month we lost people in Cape Town, also fire-fighters.

Bloem added that we can only say we are grateful for these brave men, who go into places no other person would dare to go in.

“We also want to send our condolences to the family, friends and the colleagues of these brave firemen. May their souls rest in peace.” Bloem concluded.
