One
man died and another sustained moderate injuries in an accident on the R38
Barberton late last night.
It
is understood the driver lost control of the vehicle and hit a tree. ER24
Spokesperson Chitra Bodasing says the exact cause of the accident is unknown,
however authorities were on scene for further investigations.
Bodasing
says when ER24 paramedics, provincial and other services arrived on the scene,
they found car parts lying all over the area.
The
car was in a bush on the other side of the road. The driver of the vehicle,
believed to be 29-years-old, was trapped in the vehicle.
Bodasing
says the man was assessed, unfortunately there was nothing paramedics could do
for him he was declared dead. Fire and Rescue services used the Jaws of Life to
extricate him from the vehicle.
Bodasing
added that the passenger believed to be 32 years of age, was assessed and
treated for moderate injuries and transported to the Barberton Medi clinic for
further medical care
