Eskom says there should be no load shedding this week depending on how its power system operates.
The
power utility’s Spokesperson Khulu Phasiwe said if the power system becomes
constrained then they would be forced to implement load shedding in the evenings.
Over
the long weekend Eskom again performed a maintenance drive in order to improve
the performances of its system ahead of winter.
Phasiwe
said during the course of the day we do have enough generating capacity to meet
the demand and then late in the afternoon, especially from 17:00 until 21:00 in
the evening that is when the system is expected to come under severe strain.
“During
that time we may or may not implement load shedding, and all we are asking from
people is that they use electricity sparingly and save wherever they can”
Phasiwe added.
