Eskom: Stage 1 load-shedding in progress

Eskom started implementing stage one load shedding at six o clock this morning due to a shortage of generating capacity.

The power utility said several of its generating units are currently out of service as they are undergoing maintenance.

Customers have been urged to safe electricity whenever they can.

Eskom Spokesperson Khulu Phasiwe says some of our generating units are not operating at this stage.

“This is also compounded by the fact that some of our generating units especially in the Cape Town area, the ones that are using diesel, we currently have been using them for long duration of hours and therefore we need to replenish these resources, so that we keep the lights on, Phasiwe added.
