Western Cape MEC of Transport
and Public Works Donald Grant on Monday launched the Global Road Safety Week
with the focus on child pedestrian safety.
In the province child
pedestrians make up a large majority of the children killed.
MEC Grant said a behaviour and
attitude change around road safety is needed.
Ministerial Spokesperson
Siphesihle Dube says “the focus of the project is to highlight the scourge that
is faced by young people particularly in our roads as pedestrians.
Dube added that “the campaign
is focused on improving pedestrian awareness safety and lowering the number of
deaths of children particularly in that age groups”
