The National Union of Mineworkers has expressed its disappointment regarding rumours that are making the rounds about intentions to sell parts of Eskom.

In a statement NUM said Eskom is a state asset and is not for sale.

NUM Acting National Spokesperson Livhuwani Mammburu said we want to remind those who are behind the rumours or even government, if there is any intention to sell Eskom or parts of it will be strongly opposed by the NUM.

Mammburu said Eskom is not for sale, there will be no privatisation.

“This is a state asset and anybody that wants to privatise Eskom must privatise his assets and not public asset like Eskom. And for us as the NUM we want to make it clear that our members at Eskom are not for sale” Mammburu added.
