R1-million worth of illegal abalone confiscated

Philippi police this week confiscated abalone worth R1-million.

This follows a search at a house on 6th Avenue after police received information about illegal dealings at the house.

Police Spokesperson Constable Noloyiso Rwexana says upon searching the house unshelled abalone was found, about 8 300 units of abalone was confiscated.

Rwexana said no one was arrest, we appeal to anyone who has information that will assist in the investigation to contact Philippi police or crime stop at 08600 10111.

Police are still searching for suspects in this case.
