The Democratic Alliance said Eskom has not upheld
its promise of keeping the lights on during winter, as load shedding started
again as from Sunday.
DA MP of Public Enterprises Natasha Mazzone said it
is unacceptable that South Africans in rural villages have been left out in the
cold with load shedding delays of more than ten hours per day.
“We were told effectively by leaders of Eskom that
we would not experiencing load shedding in the winter month. We have now
started seeing the implementation of load shedding.” Mazzone added.
She also said that it is causing havoc in South
Africa, it is causing the poorest of the poor to suffer more than they already
suffer and our economy is completely strangled hold by the Eskom monopoly.
