Gauteng police launch manhunt for 7 awaiting-trial prisoners

A manhunt has been launched to find seven awaiting-trial prisoners who escaped from the Lenasia Magistrate’s Court on Monday.


 
The prisoners who escaped were arrested on various charges including housebreaking, theft and robbery which were committed in Lenasia, Eldorado Park and Ennerdale.

Police Spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Lungelo Dlamini said they allegedly overpowered a police officer and escaped through the broken door.
 
“We have deployed a number of Detective as well as Intelligence of SAPS to trace these guys,” Dlamini added.
