Western Cape MEC of Social Development Albert Fritz has expressed his shock at the discovery of a body of a 14-year-old girl in Bredasdorp on Sunday.
The body of the girl was
discovered underneath the bed of a 27-year-old Zimbabwean man who was arrested
after the discovery of the body.
MEC Fritz has urged parents to
continue to play the greatest role in ensuring they protect and provide an
enabling space for their children, as this week is National Child Protection
Week.
“We are extremely horrified as
this is Child Protection Week and we really think it is unacceptable that
another child’s body was found specifically in Bredasdorp which is notorious
for this kind of crime” Fritz added.
He continued to emphasise that
the department will continue to work with the police to leave no stone unturned
in this investigation.
