Western Cape MEC of Economic Opportunities Alan Winde is concerned by the impact of poor management of state entities and resultant failure to supply electricity.

MEC Winde said Eskom’s proposed tariff increase coupled with load shedding will result in multi- billion rand loses to the economy.

Ministerial Spokesperson Bronwynne Jooste said load shedding and the electricity tariff hikes have a direct impact on our ability to create jobs and research has shown us that the issues with Energy will see growth rate and productivity decline.

“At the same time consumers will be paying more for goods and services. The statistics tell us that securing energy should be one of national government’s key priorities.” Jooste added.
