Limpopo police have launched a manhunt for four awaiting trial prisoners who escaped from the Malamulele Magistrate Court with the police van.

Originally five prisoners escaped.

The escapees have been identified as David Madala Mhlongo, Cliff Sithole, Lucas Siweya, and Manuel Simango.

Police Spokesperson Ronel Otto said they managed to overpower two of our members and took the police vehicle and fled from the scene.

The vehicle was found abandoned approximately 25km from the scene.

One of the suspects who was actually arrested for murder did hand himself into the police station late last night, Otto added.

The search for the remaining suspects are still continuing
