Six injured after a train derailed in Johannesburg

Metroral has confirmed that there has been a train accident in Doornfontein, east of Johannesburg.

Spokesperson Lillian Mofokeng said seven commuters suffered minor injuries.

“We are currently facing a challenge with train service the trains both ways from Pretoria, Springs and Thembisa are running more than two hours late. We are requesting our commuters to be patient with us as the technical team are trying veyr hard to try and re-rail the two coaches that got derailed out of the 12 coaches ” Mofokeng added.

It is not yet clear what caused the accident but technicians are on the scene.
