Taxi incident leaves 13 people injured on the R56

An accident this afternoon involving a taxi on the R56 in Pietermaritzburg has left 13 people injured.

This is after the taxi driver lost control and overturned.

ER24 Spokesperson Chitra Bodasing said ER24 paramedics and other services arrived on the scene and found the overturned taxi lying on its side.

Bodasing said the patients were lying on the grass on an embankment.

“Paramedics assessed the patients and found that they had sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate. They were treated and transported to local hospitals for further care.” Bodasing added.

The exact details of the cause of the accident will remain the subject of a police investigation.
