At least 150 people were left
injured on Friday night in a train collision near the Booysens train station,
South of Johannesburg.
ER24 spokesperson Russel
Meiring said ER24 paramedics as well as other services arrived on scene and
found a mass casualty incidents.
Paramedics and rescue workers
had to set up 2 house operation to treat and council the affected patients.
On assessment paramedics discovered
that at least 200 people had sustained minor injuries.
Fortunately, no fatalities
were reported on scene. Paramedics took some time to treat all the patients and
therefore transported them to various hospitals for further treatment.
The cause of the collision is
not yet known but local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
Meanwhile, three people
tragically lost their lives following an accident on the R61 near the Shelly
Beach Tollgate on the KZN South Coast this morning.

Steinmann said upon their arrival on scene, they found that 2 motor vehicles
had collided and one motor vehicle overturned and came to a standstill on its
roof.
Both vehicles burst into
flames and firefighters were fighting the fire.
The exact details surrounding the
cause of the crash are still unclear.
Upon investigation by paramedics,
they found that 3 occupants from the 2 vehicles burnt beyond recognition in the
fire.
