20 people arrested during Operation Fiela in Potchefstroom

Over 20 people were arrested during Operation Fiela in Potchefstroom over the weekend with a total of 58 fines issued for contraventions of the Road Traffic Act.

Goods such as liquor, diesel, dagga and knives were confiscated during the operations where over 600 persons, 101 vehicles and 61 premises were searched. 

Colonel Sabata Mokgwabone said The suspects, who were arrested in Ikageng and Ventersdorp respectively, include seven individuals who were found in possession of dagga; two more were arrested for burglary; two for Assault with intent to do Grievous Bodily Harm; two for drunken driving; two for drinking in public, and one for possession of suspected stolen goods.

Mokgwabone said we also managed to arrest one person for selling liquor without a licence while three were arrested for possession of dangerous weapons.


“The suspects are due to appear in the Potchefstroom Magistrates' Court soon” Mokgwabone added.
