The Western Cape Department of
Social Development has expressed concern over a case where a 7-year-old girl
was allegedly sexually assaulted by boys in her area in Mitchell’s Plain.
MEC of Social Development
Albert Fritz has urged parents to report cases of abuse and neglect.
Fritz said what we have done
was further to establish the facts and social workers to give support to the
family of the victim and the victim itself.
“We are also going to allow
the Criminal Justice System to take effect”.
We will support the police and
the courts in establishing the truth behind this matter and give necessary
support to the family, Frits added.
