A new-born baby found dumped in a plastic bag

Cape Town police have opened an inquest docket for investigation, after the body of a newborn baby was found in a plastic bag in Heideveld over the weekend.

A pedestrian discovered the body next to the Heideveld High School fence on Duinefontein Road.

Lieutenant Ian Bennett said at this point in time it is uncertain on why the baby was left or how the child died.

Bennett said SAPS has opened an inquest dock to determine the cause of death.

“We call on anyone who has information to come forward with any information regarding the baby boy,” said Bennett.
