The Congress of South African Trade Union in the North West has raised concern that the Department of Labour is taking too long to resolve issues of non-compliance, on Occupational Health and Safety Act by employers.

This comes as complaints from workers workings at seawares section say they are subjected to dangerous chemicals with no protective clothing.

Cosatu’s Solly Phetoe said we have been raising issues of safety of workers and non-compliance in relation to the Occupational Health and Safety workers.

“We have a list of workers who are injured others are disabled, blind others have lost their lives due to non-compliance, now we have got the report in consultation with the family members that one of the family member who is an employee of the municipality died again” Phetoe added.
