DA and COPE comment on Daniel Mtimkulu

The Democratic Alliance says it is regrettable that the former Head of Engineering Services at the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa Daniel Mtimkulu has resigned before there was an investigation into his qualifications.

However, the DA is happy with the swift action taken to lay criminal charges against Mtimkulu to investigate the waste of taxpayers’ money.

DA MP of Transport Manny de Freitas said Mtimkhulu should be used as example to anybody who submits fake certification.

The DA has written to Prasa’s Board Chairperson to request that he ask Mtimkulu to pay back the salary he has been earning over the last four years as an employee of Prasa, because he was doing it under false pretences.

Likewise, while the Congress of the People is also pleased that Daniel Mtimkulu, the Head of Engineering at PRASA, has resigned, they say they will continue their action against him.

They will also continue to press for action against those who improperly appointed Mtimkulu to Head Engineer.

COPE Spokesperson Dennis Bloem they will not stop with their action against Mtimkhulu and suspended CEO Lucky Montana. We have opened up fraud cases against these two notwithstanding his resignation from Prasa.

“Cope is saying we want the money back that he was being paid as an employee of Prasa” Bloem added.
