The Democratic Alliance has raised its concern over Mpumalanga municipalities that have managed to rake up a whopping R1.415 billion in wasteful expenditure.

This follows the latest Municipal Finance Management Act Audit outcomes.

A challenge in the province remains the compliance with key legislation.

DA’s Bosman Grobler said if I identify quite a few critical errors where these wasteful expenditure has happened one of the biggest concerned is the fact that tenders given to councillors and municipal officials.

The DA is really concerned that municipalities in Mpumalanga is not free fair and creates opportunities for the residence of the municipality.
