The Federation of Unions of South Africa has condemned the violence in Mamelodi which has resulted in a Putco bus driver shot to death.

Taxi operators have been protesting for two days now following a contract issued to Autopax to operate in certain routes in the area.

Fedusa’s Dennis George said violence undermines both social and industrial peace.

George said, from our side we believe its total unacceptable in a democratic South African that we have a situation that people want to use violence to resolve  their problems and issues.

“We firmly believe that government should act very strong towards these people.

The situation that is subtracting us is that drivers have to go every day and work for their families to receive a decent living and a decent income to provide for their families and for those drivers to be attacked by taxi owners and by their drivers is something totally unacceptable.” George added.
