An investigation into the conduct of two Mpumalanga doctors has been launched by the Department of Health.

Minister Aaron Motsoaledi said in a statement that the alleged conduct of the two doctors are serious as they points to gross negligence and therefore an investigation must be launched to determine facts before an appropriate action is taken.

Ministerial Spokesperson Joe Maila said we believe that whatever they did or did not do while they were consulting a particular patient at a hospital was bothering on criminality but also issues of ethics that need to be looked to clinically.

“They did not follow any clinical guidelines when consulting this particular patient and we believe that the investigation will point us to the right direction before we take any necessary action” Maila added.
