Western Cape MEC of Community Safety Dan Plato condemns the recent killings near the Heideveld train station.

It is alleged that two men were doused with petrol and then set alight after robbing someone of their cellphone.

Minister Plato calls on the community to help the authorities identify the perpetrators.

Spokesperson for Minister Plato, Ewald Botha said no matter what the circumstances or allegations, we cannot allow our communities to take the law into their own hands.

Botha added that all criminal activities should be reported to the SAPS.

“Where the community feel they do not get the necessary safety service delivery, they should make contact with the Neighbourhood Watch or Community Forum for escalation, the office of the Western Cape Provincial Police Ombudsman or the Department of Community Safety by lodging a complaint at 021 483 4332 or via email at safer@westerncape.gov.za.” Botha concluded.
