The Minister of Science and Technology Naledi Pandor launched a casting simulation network on Thursday which will provide South Africa’s foundry sector with advanced technology.

This technology will hopefully provide vital inputs in the manufacturing industry. The Minister believes this software will begin to fill a technology gap in the foundry sector.

Ministerial Spokesperson Lunga Ngqengelele said the Minister referred to the fact that since 2011 the Department of Science and Technology supported a programme to assist the foundry sector with Technology Assistance Packages.

Ngqengelele added that our manufacturing industry needs and is looking at how we can improve the service or the product that is being produced.
