The Department of Science and Technology believes Africa has all the potential to be a global hotbed of innovation.

This comes after Minister Naledi Pandor spoke in London at a conference on higher education and science innovation in Africa.

Ministerial Spokesperson Lunga Ngqengelele said the Minister’s message was mainly that, Africa was ready for business especially when it comes to science.

She said institutions must stop looking at science in Africa as a basket case but, rather as an opportunity.

The Minister urged the conference delegates to invest more in Africa so that African scientists can also be able to develop their skills, Ngqengelele added.
