The
South African Police Service believes the decision by the Department of
Planning Monitoring and Evaluation to nominate SAPS as a good practice case
study is an indication that SAPS is headed in a positive direction.
MPAT
nominated SAPS to be a good practice case study based on its performance on the
Management Performance Assessment Tool. The study is done by Wits University.
Brigadier
Vishnu Naidoo said they decided to use SAPS because of its management
performances where they have made great stride.
Naidoo
added that they have moved from position 27 to 12 in the previous financial
year and they have just leant now that they have gone even further up the
ladder but it has not been announced yet exactly what the position is.
“We
are very ecstatic about this, we started a long and very difficult journey in
turning the SAPS around, in terms of governance, management and administrative
perspective. This is because of the seven belief that a well-managed
organization is bound to do better in achieving its goal” Naidoo said.
