NUM reach wage agreement with Village Main Reef

The National Union of Mineworkers has signed a two-year agreement with Village Main Reef.

NUM General Secretary David Sipunzi said they hope that the offer tabled by Village Main Reef is going to put more pressure on bigger gold mining companies to try and match the monetary value of the basic wage increase.

Sipunzi added that they offer an increase of R1000 for underground workers entry level and R80 surface.

“Unfortunately those amounts do not attract benefits but should we reach a better offer with other remaining participants in the chamber that will spill over to this agreement with Village Main Reef,” Supunzi said.
