The Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa has confirmed it has received the resignation letter, from its former head of engineering Daniel Mtimkulu.

Last week Mtimkulu was suspended with immediate effect after he allegedly claimed he had obtained a doctorate in engineering that could not be verified by PRASA.

Group Chief Strategy Officer Sipho Sithole said PRASA can confirm that Daniel Mtimkulu has resigned from his position as Head of Engineering Services.

Sithole said this is as after charges have been put against him for gross dishonesty and fraudulently misrepresenting his academic qualifications.
