Ramaphosa is today chairing an inaugural meeting of the Public Employment Programme-Inter
ministerial Committee in Gauteng.
Public employment programmes
are implemented under the support of the Expanded Public Works Programme, and
create short-term employment for poor and unemployed South Africans.

Mamoepa said The Inter-Ministerial Committee on Public Employment Programme
chaired by Deputy President Ramaphosa champions the importance of the Public
Employment opportunities within government and the wider society.
Mamoepa added that the EPWP is
one of government's strategic priorities aimed at creating 6 million work
opportunities by 2019, hence the need for public employment programmes to
contribute optimally to social cohesion and community development.
