The South African Police Service said it is dealing decisively with corruption and other forms of criminality within the police.

This is after a warrant officer was arrested after he was found allegedly assisting cigarette smugglers on the N1 in Limpopo.

During December last year about 19 police officials were arrested for corruption in Limpopo.

Lieutenant General Solomon Makgale said, he appeared in the Segosese Regional Court on Monday and was released on a bail of R3 000 rand.

The case against him was remanded to the 16 July 2015.

National Commissioner of the Police Service, General Riah Phiyega said, it was important that officers who serve the nation, should do so with clean hands, Makgale added.
