The African National Congress in the Western Cape said it supports the administration bailout package for Oudtshoorn municipality by Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs National Minister Pravin Gordan.

ANC Provincial Chairperson Klaas Windvogel said they regret the confusion in the media that this package was presented by the Democratic Alliance.

Windvogel said unfortunately the way it was presented to Council created the impression that it’s a support package by the MEC Anton Bredell.

He said that the ANC rejected the package and they demanded that the package as agreed upon by the national Minister, Pravin Gordon.

Windvogel added that the Deputy Minister Nel and the MEC said this package should be implemented and accepted.

“It was by mistake interpreted as a package from the MEC and that is why the ANC component rejected it” Windvogel concluded.
