Education officials from the Western Cape Education Department have decided to temporarily relocate learners from Scottsdene Secondary School until the WCED is 100 percent sure that the school is structurally safe.

This decision comes after concerns were raised by engineers that the school’s building may not meet structural requirements.

Ministerial Spokesperson Jessica Shelver said The WCED will not compromise on learner and educator safety.

“We are therefore, decided to temporarily relocate the learners to other premises until we are 100% sure that Scottsdene is structurally safe.

We pleased that the WCED has come up with a plan to ensure that teaching will take place in an environment that is conducive to teaching and learning” Shelver added.

She also said that there is a hope that the broader school community will work together in the interest of education.
