The Democratic Alliance has urgently called for a joint appearance of Finance Minister Nhlanhla Nene and Public Enterprises Minister Lynne Brown before the portfolio committee to explain the appointment of new acting CEO of SAA.

The State owned enterprises appointed the previous head of Human Resources Thuli Mpshe.

DA’s MP of Public Enterprise Natasha Mazzone said it is crucial that the SAA board account to Parliament on the excess of problems crippling it.

Mazzone said the explanation can be given to the committee as to where the board now stands in this turnaround strategy. Why acting CEO of SAA, Nico Bezuidenhout not appointed and why the appointed someone who is the head of HR has no Aviation experience to be the head of acting CEO of SAA.
